Summer Skin Care Tips

The sun's rays are perilous for all of us, above all for infants, toddlers, children, and teens. Early exposure to too much sun can result to skin cancer over time. Overmuch sun exposure can be dangerous for everyone. It can cause skin cancer, cataracts, wrinkles, and painful burns which may permanently blemish skin.

It can also make side effects of some chemotherapy ill. Intensive sun exposure can also weaken the immune system even more than treatment has already. Moisturisation is the most important part of daily skin care.

Your skin requires much water than anything else and moisturisers are more needed in summer when you lose most of your body salts by sweating. Some people break out during the hot summer months due to increased perspiration, that can dissipate oils on the skin, thus allowing more pimple-causing bacteria to grow.

Mild acne can be cured by using over-the-counter products. Take good care of your skin. If you have oily skin, wash your face at least twice a day with a non-creamy cleanser. If you have dry skin, wash in the morning with a gentle, creamy cleanser but also at bedtime to remove oil and makeup. If you have combination skin, keep a close eye on your facial products and remember not to strip your skin of its natural oils.

Summer Skin Care Tips

Apply topical grape-seed extract in liquid form to help wounds heal faster and with less scarring.

A water resistant sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Apply topical vitamin C before sunscreen or makeup. Sold in liquid form, it can protect your skin against sunlight damage.

Drink lots of water through the day, not only to replenish moisture lost to the heat and sweat but also to help flush toxins out of the body and keep skin looking clear and lustrous.

If you have a fresh surgical scar, keep the area well covered. It can get pinker, then darker, if it's exposed to the sun.

Applied topically, reservatrol, an antioxidant found in grapes and red wines, decreases the effects of UVB exposure and helps prevent skin cells from cancer.

Milk is a cooling, Pitta-pacifying beverage that also supplies nutrients to your skin and helps to keep it from drying out.
